Subliminal Battle
Imagine an entire army going on strike, right in the middle of a war that they’re fighting. Picture them walking past the citizens and simply saying, "Good luck,” leaving them with no explanation, and no defense. And all the natives can do is await the destiny of an attack headed straight towards them. Now imagine this happening right next to your imagination in a place called the Limbic System. This is the part of the brain that fights off trauma. Regulations range from a surprise party to a real disaster. They are psychological soldiers that are supposed to last a lifetime! But sometimes, they simply say, "good luck” and leave the mind on its own to become more and more sensitive to the slightest yell or joke against them. It is only a matter of time before everything becomes a "fight-or-flight” predicament. But in the meantime, its wide open. So who is that other army? What are these red characters running straight towards this sensitive mind? I’ll give you a hint: It’s the only other place in the whole world where life and death co-exist. It is the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Out of the tongue comes forth blessings and curses. Words can "hurt” feelings, "steal” confidence, and "destroy” dreams. And they are looking for a weak mindset, however it got that way because "as a man thinketh, so is he (Proverbs 23: 7). But even when your natural "soldiers” simply say, "Good luck,” you are not alone. You are not defenseless. A weapon against these cruel, dream killing phrases is a cognitive technique called Affirmations. Allow Biblical Algebra to explain how this works. Affirmations are statements recited over and over again. It is fighting verbal fire with fire. The statements begin by lessening the full impact of hurtful words. And eventually they make you immune to thoughts against you. You’ll be ready to reclaim a "comfort zone” in your mind, body, and soul. Consider writing and/or repeating the following biblical statements: - I deserve to be loved.
- No thought can steal my confidence.
- My anger is slow-motioned and therefore under my control.
- My dreams are coming to a reality near you.
- God deems me worthy of forgiveness.
- And finally… no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
The battle is within. God Bless.
