We see in the Bible that we are not saved by our works or deeds, but by grace through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Acts 15:11, and Ephesians 2: 5-8). According to the scriptures, our Faith without works is dead, just as our body without the Spirit is dead (James 2: 14-17 and James 2:26). One example of good works (serving others) is mentioned in this Chapter 1 of James: To visit the fatherless, and widows in their affliction (James 1:22-23, James 1:27). There are many ways to serve. I believe that serving is one of the most unselfish ways we can live. The benefits to using ourselves, or our talents, & gifts to help others not only is fulfilling to our life, but will also be rewarded by God in eternity (Revelation 20:12). It was once said that one of the richest places on earth is the cemetery, since this is where most dreams and ideas lay unfinished.
